Casper Speedway staff recently asked for feedback from the racers and fans. "What can we do to make the show better? What don't you like?" This is a great question and the answers apply to all tracks.
If you have a low car count you need to do something to add more racing. Bring back the trophy dash for all classes. 4 laps for the 4 best qualifiers from the heat race. Hand out trophies during intermission. Have a grudge match race. A 1 on 1 race. Short and sweet. 1 or 2 quick laps. This can be done at intermission. Have pitman or sponsors race at the end of the night
Speed up the program, always have something going on. Bring the next class on the track when the cars are leaving the track. Let the race winner carry the checkered flag.
if you're not filling the stands you might want to lower the admission. $10 is to much for half a show.
Be fair to the drivers and crew. Favoritism can kill a class and a track, Make the rules the law for for all teams.

Those are all good points. For me it's 1. Keep the show moving. 2. Would love to see the trophy dash back again.

Never, never, never let engines go quiet except during the national anthem (or obviously, during a red flag.) And get an announcer who can give background on the drivers, do more than state the obvious, and who knows that second place IS a position. Get fans involved by letting them vote to determine grids for main by either heat finish or inversion using cell phones.

Check out the latest issue of Circle Track. There is an entire article devoted to their findings about what makes a good show from the tour Bob Bolles took over the last two years.

Johne17, That was a pretty good article. Everyone that's in racing should subscribe to Circle Track or go online to read their articles and forums www.circletrack.com/What they liked and didn't like on their 4 year tour of tracks across the country including the Casper Speedway and Gillette Thunder Speedway. As I recall in the story about the Casper Speedway they said it was like a party that everyone went to and a Race Broke Out! That's funny There were several in the article that I agree with. Here are a few. Short Programs that end around 10 pm Score Boards with lap count down Great Victory Lanes that are out side the track, next to the grand stands where spectators can interact with race winners. Good Announcer, Rodeo Rick at the Casper Speedway is Good! Family Section - No Smoking or Drinking Area Kid Friendly with playgrounds and rides in race cars Good Security Safety Equipment in Cars, Mandatory Head & Neck Restraints Clean Tracks with clean rest rooms Good Food Video Cameras around the track to help with race calls after the race, also give the opportunity to sell race videos Free Admission Day, Fan Appreciation Day EliteMotorsport

Thanks! I think we could get cameras sponsored to offset the cost. That should be an easy sell. And again--with all we spend on equipment, the head and neck restraints shouldn't even be in question. I believe it was in that same issue of Circle Track that they mentioned a young girl killed in a situation where the restraint may have saved her.

I believe the last sentence hit the nail on the head. When a driver is fined $250 and suspended three nights of racing for a first offense unsportsmanlike conduct. Yes, he admitted he was wrong, but have they ever done that to another racer? The 4th of July was a joke, with all the crashing into each other. Did anyone else get kicked off, so racers could catch up in points? Since when does a promoter care who wins their track? I really don't care to go to the track anymore, it isn't worth watching when they determine who wins and who goes home. This isn't NASCAR...OH WAIT...NASCAR is that drastic.

Great two nights of racing!
Sure, turn 1 had a little problem, but all in all, it was still fun and even made it a little more challenging. And there was no extra charge for the nice sunsets.
And remember, everybody, it's supposed to be FUN!
Thanks to all who made it possible, I appreciate your efforts.

it was mentioned a few times but I think pit men races would be a blast. I have many guys hinting around that they are interested in racing but want to give it a try before dumping money into their own car, and im meaning several times a year not just the last race of the year, it only takes once to get hooked. I also think inviting bigger tours such as the wild west mod tour, that basically guarantee 30+ cars every night wouldn't hurt anything

I agree with Cole. Pit-man and Powder-puff races get more people involved in racing. If you have the time, do a Pit-man race one week and a Powder-puff the next week. Also, What do you think about doing a Winners Circle driver interview/trophy presentation following each main. This introduces the fans to the drivers and gives the next class a little more time to get lined up. I see this at the tracks I've been going to in the northeast.
